Awards and Scholarship Gala
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, March 27, 2014 – A trailblazing woman and one of the best lawyers in America, social and community advocate and one of the most profound church leaders along with 14 others were recognized at the Center for Leadership Development’s 34th Annual Minority Achievers Awards and Scholarship Gala Wednesday, March 26th at the Indiana Convention Center’s Sagamore Ballroom.
The top awardees during the event:
2014 Accomplished Achievement Award – Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr., CLD Class of 1978,
Senior Pastor, Eastern Star Church
2014 Mme. C. J. Walker (Outstanding Woman of the Year) Award – Myra Selby
Partner, Ice Miller LLP
A spirit-filled preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nationally impacted speaker and one of Black Christian News Network’s best preachers, Pastor Jeffery Johnson has had a distinguished career serving the community of Indianapolis and world abroad since the age of 17.
Myra Selby became the first woman and the first African American to serve as an Associate Justice on the Indiana Supreme Court. Justice Myra Selby is recognized in “The Best Lawyers in America”, as well as a “Distinguished Barrister” in the Indiana Lawyer.
Special recognition was also given to LaSalle Rhymes, Jr., retired CLD Board of Directors member. Rhymes received the 8th Annual “S. Henry Bundles, Jr. Award for Service to the Center for Leadership Development”, named in honor of CLD’s founder, Mr. S. Henry Bundles, Jr. to recognize those, unique individuals who have made significant investments of resources (time, talent, and treasure) to help assure CLD’s strength, sustainability and growth.
