Purdue Agriculture Initiative

Grade Levels:

Are you a 10th – 12th grader who’s interested in the agriculture field and/or STEM or STEM related fields?

CLD’s Purdue Agriculture Initiative, presented in partnership with Purdue University, provides Indianapolis Youth Development students and supportive adults with the opportunity to engage in hands-on projects, learn more about the industry, tour Purdue’s campus and experience the School of Agriculture’s program.

Potential Career Fields: Agriculture Sciences Education & Communication, Applied Meteorology & Climatology, Aquatic Sciences, Botany & Plant Pathology, Botany, Crop Science, Entomology (Insect Biology), Farm Management, Fermentation Science, Forestry & Natural Resources, Natural Resources & Environmental Science, Science, Soil & Water Sciences, Technology, and Wildlife.

This Initiative has Two Parts:

Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Center for Leadership Development

On-site presentation from Purdue’s School of Agriculture: Students and families will engage with school representatives, meet professionals in the field, ask questions and learn about what it takes to succeed in agriculture.

Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 7:00AM-6:00PM (approx.) at College of Agriculture, Purdue University, West Lafayette Campus

Students will board buses bound for Purdue University. On campus, students will tour the university, learn more about the agriculture program, network with students, and more.

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – College of Agriculture Tour
12:00 PM – 12:40 PM – Lunch with Student Panel – Pfendler Hall, 241
12:50 PM – 3:45 PM – College of Agriculture Department Sessions – Various Locations
3:45 PM – Closing – Pfendler Hall, 241
4:00 PM – Depart Purdue (Charter Bus)
5:30 PM – Bus Arrives at CLD
