CLD Featured on WISH-TV: Shining a Light on Youth Career and Leadership
Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
We are proud to share that CLD recently had the opportunity to be featured on WISH-TV in a segment that highlighted our flagship program for high school students: the Self-Discovery / Career Exploration Project. (WISH-TV) During the interview, our mission, program offerings, and student outcomes were showcased—bringing visibility to the important work we do for Indianapolis youth.
What We Shared
During the segment, CLD leaders emphasized:
- The importance of helping young men and women identify their personal traits, values, and ambitions, not just their academic goals. The Self-Discovery / Career Exploration Project guides students in asking: “Who am I? Where am I going? How will I get there?”
- How career readiness and leadership development go hand-in-hand: mastering communication, presentation, teamwork, “dressing for success,” and overcoming barriers are all part of the curriculum.
- That CLD’s program is more than a one-time experience—it connects students to internship opportunities, college prep support, networking, and post-secondary success pathways.
Why This Spotlight Matters
This television feature does more than just raise CLD’s profile—it:
- Elevates community awareness about the critical need for leadership development programs tailored to historically under-served youth.
- Helps prospective students and families learn about opportunities they might not have known existed.
- Catalyzes support from donors, sponsors, and partners who see the real, on-the-ground impact of our programs.
- Encourages students to believe in their own leadership potential and to take bold steps toward their futures.
Looking Ahead
With the momentum from this feature, we are energized to:
- Expand enrollments in our upcoming cohorts of Self-Discovery / Career Exploration.
- Engage even more local businesses and universities in partnership to strengthen career pipelines for our students.
- Continue sharing success stories from our alumni—those who entered the program, then went on to college, internships, and leadership roles.
- Increase public engagement, so every teenager in Indianapolis who aspires to lead has the chance to do so through CLD.
