PROGRAM ASSISTANT

If you like to work with others who are passionate about our mission, who enjoy collaborating with co-workers, who have a professional appearance and demeanor and who want to encourage minority youth to graduate from high school, enroll, persist and graduate from college, work in the field of their choice and give back to their communities, you are the right person to consider working at CLD as a Program Assistant in our Programs Department.

As a Program Assistant, you will support the Program Coordinator who manages Precious Miss, Junior Self-Discovery and Imani Book Club programs. You will need strong administrative skills for effectively helping students, supportive Adults and Program Facilitators as well as keeping detailed attendance and other records on our Apricot database. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of African American challenges and ability to speak during Recruitment Events about the ways CLD helps youth and families address these challenges.  PA’s must be physically able to move quickly, lift and carry boxes and totes, go up and down stairs.

Hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with some nights and Saturdays (due to weeknight and Saturday student programming).  Adjusted work schedules are planned and approved by the Program Coordinator so that you work no more than 40 hours per week. LANGUAGE ARTS TUTOR

We are looking for a Language Arts Tutor to work in our College Prep Institute Lab.  The primary responsibility of this role is to provide tutoring support to students grade 4-12 working to deepen students’ understanding of the English Language through reading, writing and speaking.  The teacher style and instructional information have to affirm with the national and state laws and the school curriculum.  It is essential the Language Arts Tutor have strong interpersonal skills for effectively transferring the knowledge they have.  The ideal candidate is a current Licensed Teacher or Retired Educator, possessing a Bachelor’s degree in either English or secondary education with English language arts emphasis.  Fluency in communication is acquired by experience, and hence the experienced professionals are given more preference in this field.  Knowledge of additional languages apart from English, previous experience in language teaching, post-graduation in English language, etc. are other additional attributes which are considered before selecting a candidate for this post.  The hourly rate is $20/hour with an expectation of at least 5 hours worked per week.  The hours are flexible between 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  The Tutor is also expected to work one Saturday per month between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

MATH TUTOR

We are looking for a Math Tutor to work in our College Prep Institute Lab.  The primary responsibility of this role is to teach students grade 4-12 and some college how to comprehend their math coursework, complete math homework, and prepare for math tests.  It is essential the Math Tutor must have strong interpersonal skills for effectively transferring the knowledge they have while also maintaining a positive learning environment for the student.  The ideal candidate is a current Licensed Teachers or Retired Educator with very strong knowledge of Foundational Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus.  The hourly rate is $20/hour with an expectation of at least 5 hours worked per week.  The hours are flexible between 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  The Tutor is also expected to work one Saturday per month between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

SCIENCE TUTOR

HOMEWORK HELPER

CLD is happy to announce newly created part-time positions for our high academic-achieving, Self-Discovery-Career Exploration Project Graduates!  The primary responsibility of this role is to assist 4th, 5th and 6th graders with their homework during Walk-in Homework Help hours.  The ideal candidate is a 16, 17 or 18 year old seeking to make a positive, lasting impact on the youth we serve.  The hourly rate is $13.46/hour with an expectation of at least 5 hours worked per week.  The hours are flexible between 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.  Please apply using the link below:
