Thank you for your interest in volunteering at CLD to help us accomplish our mission: to foster the advancement of minority youth in central Indiana as future professional, business and community leaders by providing experiences that encourage personal development and educational attainment.
CLD strives to accomplish this mission by instilling in youth CLD’s Principles for Success: Character Development, Educational Excellence, Leadership Effectiveness, Community Service and Career Achievement.
With the help of your time and your talents, CLD can continue to offer a holistic youth development experience that inspires, trains, challenges, guides and encourages young people to believe in themselves, set positive goals, overcome negative peer pressure, graduate from high school and attend and graduate from college.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many youth in our community!
Please note, CLD values the integrity of the experiences our students receive, and the following areas are of utmost importance to us:
Criminal and Education Background Authorization: All volunteers who have direct contact with CLD participants must agree to a criminal background check annually. The criminal background check is conducted by our background check vendor, Trusted Employees. Volunteers will receive a link from Trusted Employees via email that will be active for no more than 48 hours. Volunteers must complete requested information within that time.
Confidentiality Agreement: In the course of volunteering, volunteers may be dealing with confidential information concerning CLD participants, CLD copyrighted curriculum, or other proprietary information. All volunteers must sign a confidentiality agreement annually.
Code of Conduct: CLD expects all volunteers to uphold a standard of excellence as set forth in our code of conduct. Volunteers must read this document carefully and make sure they are willing and able to abide by it.
Once the criminal and education background check are complete, volunteers will be notified by CLD’s Volunteer Coordinator.
Please note, ALL VOLUNTEERS must participate in Annual Facilitator Training. Also, an additional mandatory orientation and training is required for program facilitators, specific to the program they will be facilitating.
Volunteers must understand and accept that the relationship between CLD and its volunteers is an “At Will” arrangement and may be terminated at any time without cause by either the volunteer or Center for Leadership Development.
You should expect to receive follow-up communication with next steps soon. Your information will also be added to our database and used periodically throughout the year as needs arise. Again, we are so grateful for your interest.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (317) 923-8111.
The Center for Leadership Development depends on more than 200 volunteers to accomplish our mission of advancing minority youth to be future professional, business and community leaders.
