INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On March 19, the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) will host its 40th Annual Minority Achievers Awards and Scholarship Gala at the Indiana Convention Center. During the event, CLD and more than 1,300 attendees will celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding individuals throughout Central Indiana who have distinguished themselves professionally and through their contributions to the community. Top honors will be bestowed upon:

 2020 S. Henry Bundles, Jr. Award for Service to the Center for Leadership Development –
Helen Baker-Bundles, Retired, Vice-President of Administration and Curriculum, Center for Leadership Development

 2020 Accomplished Achievement Award –
William “Bill” Shrewsberry, Founder, Shrewsberry & Associates, LLC

2020 Mme. C. J. Walker (Outstanding Woman of the Year) Award –
Deborah Hearn Smith, Retired CEO, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana

2020 Distinguished Alumni Award –
Kelvin Wade, (CLD Alumnus of 1986), Director of Patient and Visitor Services, Indiana University Health

Twelve additional awards will be presented to select individuals for achievement in categories: Arts & Entertainment, Business & Industry, Communications/PR/Advertising, Education, K-12 and Postsecondary, Entrepreneurship, Financial Services, Professions, Public & Community Service, Science & Technical Disciplines, “Up & Coming” Achiever, and the CLD Directors Award.

The event will also focus on CLD’s higher education institutions and community partners who will introduce the 2020 class of “CLD Scholars”. CLD’s educational scholarship supporters help make education accessible, affordable, and achievable for CLD participants and their families. Since 2004, CLD has been in partnership with various colleges and universities throughout the state of Indiana that see the value of CLD’s programming. Over $30 million in scholarships have been awarded to CLD students since 2004. At the 2019 Achievers Gala, $5.2 million was leveraged in support of over 60 CLD Scholars and participants.
