CLD Director of Development elected to Indiana Association of Fundraising Professionals board of directors
Veteran fundraiser Melanie Frazier one of few Black Certified Fund Raising Executives internationally
INDIANAPOLIS – The Center for Leadership Development (CLD) empowers African American youth and encourages them to achieve academic, professional and life success. Leading by example, CLD Director of Development, Melanie Frazier, has been nominated and voted to the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Indiana Chapter.
With a robust background in fundraising, Frazier holds multiple certifications and distinguishments as an executive fundraiser and capacity builder. Holding the professional title of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2008, Frazier is one of just 217 African Americans across the globe holding the designation. Her most recent accomplishment of being nominated to the AFP board rounds out almost two decades of serving the community and trailblazing a path for more African American fundraisers to follow suit.
“Like many industries, fundraising and non-profit development would only benefit by having greater diversity, specifically additional representation by Black professionals,” said Frazier. “At CLD, we are proud to have an established track record of fundraising success, and one of my goals is to pass along my knowledge and experience so that other professionals working with organizations serving minority populations can thrive as well.”
The Association of Fundraising Professionals is committed to creating an impact around the world, which includes promoting inclusion, diversity, equity and access.
“Making an impact on the community through fundraising and philanthropy is just one of many ways we can serve the public,” said AFP Indiana Chapter President Dan Hartmann. “By showcasing the importance of philanthropy, we are better able to serve society and diverse communities. With Melanie on board, we are adding yet another devoted and successful professional to keep fueling our mission.”
